Mr. James Archambeault
James Archambeault was educated at Duquesne University in Pennsylvania, where he
received his B.A. in Communications. After serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in
the Philippines, he began making a living as an independent photographer
specializing in nature and landscape scenes, a career he has pursued for more
than twenty-five years.
Often collaborating with other talented individuals such as Thomas Clark and
Wendell Berry, Archambeault has published five books:
- Kentucky (1982)
- Kentucky II (1989)
- The Gift of Pleasant Hill: Shaker Community in Kentucky (1991)
- Kentucky III (1999)
- James Archambeault’s Historic Kentucky (2006)
His images have been featured in sundry nationally renowned
publications, such as:

Archambeault is also the creator of Kentucky’s annual state calendar, as well as
that of Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
Along with his recent association with the Hellenic Ideals Program, Archambeault
is involved with the Kentucky Council on Child Abuse. He resides in Lexington,
Kentucky, with his wife, Lee.
